Ricky Rudd became the driver of the Texaco/Havoline Ford for Robert Yates Racing in 2000. Rudd made the move after a six-year stint as an owner/driver in the NASCAR Winston Cup series. Rudd drove the star car to three wins, 26 top-five and 41 top-10 finishes. Rudd left RYR at the end of the 2002 season to drive for the Wood Brothers organization. |

2000
- Took over driving duties of the Texaco/Havoline Ford for the entire Cup season and recorded one win in the 125 mile qualifier at Daytona, two poles, 12 top-five, and 19 top-10 finishes
- Finished fifth in the final championship standings
2001
- Captured two victories at Pocono and Richmond, as well as, 14 top-five and 22 top-10 finishes
- His victory at Pocono was the first for the No. 28 Texaco/Havoline car since 1997
- Finished fourth in the final championship standings
2002
- Drove the famed No. 28 Texaco/Havoline car for its final season in 2002. Recorded one win (Sonoma), one pole (Watkins Glen), eight top-five and 12 top-10 finishes
- Finished 10th in the final championship standings marking the 19th time he had accomplished this feat, the third consecutive year he had finished in the top 10 at RYR
- Earned NASCAR’S official IRONMAN title when he made his start at the Coca-Cola 600. The race marked his 656thconsecutive-career start
- Parted ways with RYR at the end of the 2001 season to finish out his career with the Wood Brothers organization
