Montoya Featured on Cover of Sports Illustrated Collector's Issue
CONCORD, N.C. (December 7, 2006) - Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) driver Juan Pablo Montoya is featured on the cover of the special collector's issue of Sports Illustrated that hit newsstands today. Montoya and driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., who was just voted NASCAR's most popular driver, were chosen for the commemorative NASCAR issue which will be displayed through February. Montoya and Earnhardt Jr. took time out of their busy schedules at Phoenix International Raceway in November to pose for the cover photo. Inside the issue is a four-page article regarding Montoya's switch from open-wheel cars in the Formula One Series to the heavier stock cars of NASCAR. Montoya and team owner Chip Ganassi announced their renewed partnership in July of 2006 after a five-year hiatus. Montoya drove for Ganassi's open-wheel team in 1999 and 2000, winning the CART Championship and the Indianapolis 500. Montoya will pilot the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge full time in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series in 2007.
