Busch Advance for Aaron's 312 at Talladega Superspeedway
Race: Aaron’s 312 on Saturday, April 28, 2007
Track: Talladega Superspeedway (2.66-mile tri-oval)
Location: Talladega, Ala.
Juan Pablo Montoya and the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Team Facts:
- Talladega Past to Present: Juan Pablo Montoya made his first official run for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) stock car operations at Talladega Superspeedway last October in the ARCA RE/MAX Food World 250 race, during which he qualified on the outside pole and then proceeded to score a well-earned third-place finish. Montoya raced several laps three wide, was involved in an incident on the track and dropped back as far as 31st before driving the No. 42 Dodge Charger across the finish line in third place.
- Where They Stand: After its top-25 effort at PIR Friday night, the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline team moved up to 11th in the overall NBS owner ranks and is just five points away from the 10th spot.
- Rookie Rewind: Montoya grabbed his third Raybestos® Rookie of the Race honor in Friday night’s NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) race at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR). With a current tally of 86, he now stands second in the NBS rookie rundown just two points behind NBS rookie class leader Marcos Ambrose. Montoya was also rookie of the race in Mexico City and Atlanta. On the Cup side, Montoya is still head of the rookie class. He has a five-point lead over David Ragan. Montoya has claimed rookie of the race honors three times so far this year in NASCAR NEXTEL Cup competition, including Las Vegas, Atlanta and Texas.
- Follow the Leader: Montoya has led more laps this season than any other NBS Raybestos Rookie. Altogether, he has led a total of 47 laps in his Busch career.
- Chassis: The Texaco/Havoline team is bringing chassis #751 to Alabama this weekend. It is the same car raced at Daytona International Speedway earlier this year, unfortunately mechanical problems ended the team’s day prematurely with a 38th-place finish.
