Busch Advance for New Hampshire International Speedway
Race: Camping World 200 on Saturday, June 30, 2007
Track: New Hampshire International Speedway (NHIS) (1.058-mile oval)
Location: Loudon, N.H.
Juan Pablo Montoya and the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Busch Series Dodge Team Facts:
- Plenty of Firsts: Last weekend’s NASCAR NEXTEL Cup victory for Juan Pablo Montoya and the Texaco/Havoline team was not only Montoya’s first NEXTEL Cup win, but a plethora of firsts: Montoya became the first Hispanic driver to win in NASCAR’s top touring series; he became the first rookie to win at Infineon Raceway; it was the first win for Dodge’s new Avenger; the first Cup victory for Texaco/Havoline since joining CGRFS; and the first Cup win on a road course for CGRFS.
- Hamlin Trucking it this Weekend in Memphis: Kevin Hamlin will return to NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (NCTS) competition for Bobby Hamilton Racing (BHR) in the No. 4 Dodge at the Memphis (Tenn.) Motorsports Park this Saturday, June 30. Hamlin has recorded two starts so far this 2007 for BHR, collecting a 10th-place finish at Mansfield (Ohio) Motorsports Park this past May. The Snohomish, Wash., native just scored a 16th-place finish at The Milwaukee Mile last Saturday night in the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Busch Dodge. He will get back in the No. 42 car July 21 to compete in the NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) 250 at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Ill.
- New Englander On Board: Doug Riepe, the rear-tire carrier for the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline team, is a native New Englander hailing from Danbury, Conn. He is a 2000 graduate of Immaculate High School, and was named the 2000 Connecticut State Athlete of the Year. He moved to North Carolina in the fall of 2000 to pursue a higher education at Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, N.C., where he played for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons baseball team for four years and then graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications. Riepe came to CGRFS that following fall to work as an intern in the sponsorship relations department and has stayed on with the team ever since. You will also find him in the pits on Sundays, carrying tires for the No. 40 CGRFS NEXTEL Cup team.
- NBS Rookie Race Update: Taking a few weeks off from NBS competition to go race in the non-companion NASCAR NEXTEL Cup events throughout the month of June, Montoya now stands fourth in the NBS Raybestos® Rookie of the Year standings. He is 35 points behind NBS rookie class leader David Ragan. Montoya has scored rookie of the race honors four times this 2007 NBS season—at Mexico City, Atlanta, Phoenix and Richmond.
- Chassis: Brian Pattie and the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline team are bringing new chassis #753 to Loudon this weekend, hoping its third run is the charm. The only two other times the car has been raced this 2007 season was at Lowes Motor Speedway (started 36th, finished 35th) in May and Texas Motor Speedway (started 30th, finished 42nd) in April. Both runs were concluded prematurely after on-track accidents took Sorenson and the Wrigley’s team out of contention.
- NBS Points Update: After a clean, well-earned 16th-place finish by Kevin Hamlin and team at The Milwaukee Mile last Saturday night, the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline team is 12th in the overall NASCAR Busch Series owner standings. The No. 42 CGRFS Busch Dodge is just 44 points away from the top 10.
