CANADIAN VALIANTE FINISHES 34th IN NASCAR DEBUT IN MONTREAL

MONTREAL, Quebec (August 4, 2007) – Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) Rolex Sports Car Series regular Michael Valiante turned a few heads this weekend in Canada with his NASCAR Busch Series debut.

Although the Vancouver, B.C. native finished 34th after a transmission problem cut his day short on Lap 24 of 75, Valiante got up to speed quickly in his first stock car experience, finishing 12th out of 43 cars in the opening practice session, and second overall in the final NBS practice.

Juan Pablo Montoya will return behind the wheel of the No. 42 Busch Dodge next weekend at Watkins Glen International in the NBS Zippo 200 Saturday, August 11. The race will broadcast on ESPN2 (LIVE, 3:30 p.m. ET).

CGRFS Driver Quoteboard:

MICHAEL VALIANTE: "Coming from a background strictly rooted in racing open wheel and sports cars, I had a total of three hours under my belt from testing coming into this weekend. But what an experience. I’ve raced this circuit before in open wheel, and it was just awesome to try my hand at a stock car here. The team and the car were enjoyable to work with all weekend, and our goal was to finish in the top-15, but what a race. I just want to thank Chip and Felix for the opportunity and hopefully we can try it again in the future."
