Race Advance - Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway
Race: Coke Zero 400 on Saturday, July 5 (Live TNT at 5:30 p.m.)
Track: Daytona International Speedway (2.5-mile oval)
Location: Daytona Beach, Fla.
Juan Pablo Montoya and the No. 42 Dodge Charger (NSCS)
- Daytona: Juan Pablo Montoya will be making his fourth start at DIS this weekend for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates. The two-time Rolex 24 at Daytona winner is looking for his first top-10 finish on the 2.5-mile superspeedway. His best finish at Daytona is 19th during his rookie Daytona 500 in 2007.
- About last week: Montoya and the No. 42 Dodge finished the rain-shortened race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the 32nd position on Sunday. Montoya and the No. 42 crew had one of the quickest cars of the weekend, but were marred in traffic, blocked in their pits on several occasions and had a late-race run in with the No. 18 car that led them to the disappointing 32nd-place finish.
- Fan Zone: Montoya will be making an appearance on the Daytona International Speedway Fan Zone stage on Saturday prior to the Sprint Cup race. Montoya will participate in a question and answer session at 4:45 p.m. before he takes the green flag for the 18th race of the 2008 season.
- Two to Go: Team Owner Chip Ganassi is just two wins away from reaching a milestone of 100 victories as an owner. His wins have come across a wide variety of racing series including CART, IndyCar, NASCAR Sprint Cup, NASCAR Nationwide, ARCA and Grand Am. Montoya has contributed to 15 of Ganassi’s victories over five series: 10 CART, one IndyCar, one Sprint Cup, one Nationwide and two Grand Am.
- Floridians: Two members of the No. 42 crew hail from the "Sunshine State." Crew Chief Brian Pattie grew up in Zephyrhills on the west coast of Florida. He got his start working with David Reutimann in central Florida on the DIRT Modified and Late Model circuits. Spotter Tab Boyd is a Pensacola native and was a driver himself before becoming a spotter. He also works in the Fabrication department at CGRFS.
- 2008 Standings: Montoya slipped one spot in the NSCS driver standings after his 32nd-place finish at NHMS on Sunday. He now sits 20th in the overall standings.
- 2008 Standings: Montoya moved up three spots in the NSCS driver standings after his sixth-place finish at Infineon Raceway on Sunday. He now sits 19th and 254 points out of the 12th position, the cut-off for the "Chase for the Sprint Cup."
- He’s “SIRIUS” Again: For the second year in a row, listen to SIRIUS Satellite Radio every Tuesday on channel 128 for the "Juan Pablo Montoya Report." Montoya will provide exclusive updates on the No. 42 Team; give post-race downloads and share his thoughts on the events of the season. He will also chat with hosts David Poole and Mike Bagley on "The Morning Drive" every Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. ET.
- No. 42 Dodge Charger (NSCS): Chassis #750. The No. 42 team used this chassis earlier in the year at the Daytona 500. After starting in the 15th position, Montoya battled an ill-handling car at the start of the race. After making adjustments and a strategic pit call Montoya drafted up to second place. Late race contact though dropped Montoya to 32nd.
