Busch Advance for Daytona International Speedway

Race: Winn Dixie 250 on Friday, July 6, 2007
Track: Daytona International Speedway (DIS) (2.5-mile tri-oval)
Location: Daytona Beach, Fla.

Juan Pablo Montoya and the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Busch Series Dodge Team Facts:

  • A Little Closer to Home: Three members of the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline team will be racing a little closer to home this weekend in the Sunshine State. Crew chief Brian Pattie and Adam Cooke, the team shock specialist, hail from Zephyrhills, Fla. The two grew up together in the Florida town. Bruce Jones, a team mechanic, is also from Florida. He calls Lakeland his hometown and still has many family and friends who reside in the area.

  • NBS Rookie Race Update: Juan Pablo Montoya still stands fourth in the NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) Raybestos® Rookie of the Year standings. He is 34 points behind NBS rookie class leader David Ragan. Montoya has scored rookie of the race honors four times this 2007 NBS season—at Mexico City, Atlanta, Phoenix and Richmond.

  • Chassis: Brian Pattie and the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline team are returning chassis #551 to Daytona International Speedway this weekend to run the Winn Dixie 250. It is the same car Pattie and Reed Sorenson raced at Daytona earlier this year and at Talladega this past April. Unfortunately, their Daytona effort was sidelined by engine failure (started 25th, finished 38th) and then at Talladega the team was playing it safe for much of the race, holding position near the rear of the field and slightly outside of the main draft to avoid the multi-car accidents that restrictor-plate races are known for. When it was time to go, Sorenson worked his way up to as high as fourth place on lap 98 but then fell victim to a bump drafting incident on lap 111 that took him and team out of the show for the remainder of the day (started 14th, finished 27th).

  • NBS Points Update: Montoya maintained a top-10 run the majority of the NASCAR Busch Series race at New Hampshire International Speedway last Saturday, before getting taken out in a late-race accident. Montoya and the No. 42 Texaco/Havoline team finished 34th and dropped from 12th to 13th in the NBS owner standings. The No. 42 CGRFS team is now 74 points outside the top 10.
