Juan Pablo Montoya and the No. 42 Dodge Charger (NSCS)
- About last week: Montoya and the No. 42 team had issues at Pocono Raceway from the drop of the green flag. Montoya and team were able to overcome an early spark plug wire problem and battle back into the top 20. But a dropped valve on lap 145 ended the team’s day. Montoya was credited with a 40th-place finish.
- Watkins Glen: Montoya will make his second start at the Upstate New York track this weekend at WGI. In his rookie campaign, he was running sixth in the No. 42 Dodge Charger when he was hit from behind and sent spinning with less than 20 laps remaining in the road course race.
- In Preparation: The No. 42 team and Montoya tested at Road Atlanta last week in preparation for the final road course race of the season in Watkins Glen.
- Perfect Combo: Montoya already has two road course victories in NASCAR and will visit Watkins Glen International for the first time with Crew Chief Brian Pattie. Pattie has seen a tremendous amount of success at The Glen when he was a crew chief in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS). Pattie has three pole positions, one outside pole, three victories and one second-place finish to his credit at the road course.
- DIRECTV HotPass: Montoya and the No. 42 team will be will be featured on DIRECTV’s NASCAR HotPass for the Sprint Cup race in Watkins Glen. The HotPass subscription allows fans to follow Montoya and the team throughout the entire race with in-depth reporting, real-time statistics and live-race audio. Montoya and the team will be featured on channels 796 and 791 on Sunday.
- 2008 Standings: Montoya slipped to 25th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings following his 40th-place finish last weekend at Pocono Raceway.
- NY Native: CGRFS Competition Director Steve Hmiel hails from Syracuse, north east of Watkins Glen. Hmiel joined the team last season with over 30 years of NASCAR experience. He has been winning races and championships with some of the most recognized teams in the business including Petty Enterprises, Roush-Fenway Racing and Dale Earnhardt Inc.
- He’s "SIRIUS" Again: For the second year in a row, listen to SIRIUS Satellite Radio every Tuesday on channel 128 for the "Juan Pablo Montoya Report." Montoya will provide exclusive updates on the No. 42 Team; give post-race downloads and share his thoughts on the events of the season. He will also chat with hosts David Poole and Mike Bagley on "The Morning Drive" every Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. ET.
- No. 42 Dodge Charger: Chassis: #821. Pattie and No. 42 crew are bringing chassis #821 this weekend to WGI. This is the chassis they tested last week at Road Atlanta. It has not been raced yet this season.
