A Disappointing 500

I apologize for the blog being so late this week!  I did not forget about it!  The race in Daytona was so disappointing to me and I was ready to get out of there and forget about it, but not completely.  I try to look at the situation different and learn for the future.  One of the most frustrating things is being so close to the front and getting shuffled back in the pack.  You definitely have to look out for yourself because nobody else will.  While they were three wide the 22 car hit the left rear corner of our car just before he wrecked.  The hit pushed the quarter panel onto the tire and it was smoking heavily.  With just around five laps to go we had to pit, the tire would not have made it.  We were in the very back and could not get up in the mix.  I had really high expectations but it was not meant to be. That’s about it for Daytona.

Now looking forward, this week was super busy at the shop.  We had to have four cars completely ready before we leave for California.  Of course the California race cars had to be complete, but the Las Vegas cars had to be ready also.  They will be transported out there before we get back home, because the drive is so long.  The transporters will meet up and do a “car swap” while we are at home getting cars prepared for Atlanta  and we will have to squeeze a Phoenix test in the day after the Las Vegas race.  (Are you confused like me?)  Just kidding, but there is a lot happening.  So many cars need to be ready for this stretch, even though it is only the second race of the season.   I am looking forward to California, we have some improving to do out there.  Las Vegas should be good also, we were the fastest car in the test!  I need to get packed and catch the plane for California.  Hope everyone has a good week.  Talk to you in a few days.

Tab, like you said Daytona was so Dissapointing, but I think an other learning experience. In one moment of the race JP was kind of frustrated with Dony because he feels the car was so loose and he want to pit, but Mr. Wingo hold him until the last minute resulting after the caution, restart in 5th position, WOW!! what a good move. After that is a story we dont want to remember, at least we get very exited for a couple of laps.
I hope we have the chance to see some racing this weekend but I think with the weather forecast is going to be a bad Sunday without Nascar.
Heads up and lets continue working for a Victory Lane.

Daytona was disappointing, no doubt! I was soooo excited to see JPM up front toward the end of the race. Everything happened so fast in the last laps, I couldn't figure out what happened and where JPM went!

I was at the Daytona 500 and WOW!! What a spectacle that was! I have never seen anything so intense!! I was actually able to see you on the top of the Sprint Tower spotting with my binoculars....I was so excited!! I was saying there's Tab! It was pretty funny everyone around me was trying to figure out what I was looking at!!

Looking forward to a better finish! Keeping the faith ;)

Great to hear from you again Tab, realy missed your blog during the off season.

Shame the 50 didn't end like we were all hoping but as you say it just wasn't mean to be, main thing is that the dodges ran well and well in the mix towards the front of the pack, Reed finishing well must have also ben a boost for CGR and expectations must be relatively high for the season.

the Formulajuan chatroom was busy as ever during the 500 and on the forum we now have a flag for each nationallity of registered members, come take a look sometime it is slowly growing into an incredible community of Montoya fans from each corner of the world.

Keep up the great work and look forward to the next blog from yourslef after the Cali race.
