Loudon and Daytona

The last few weeks have been very bizarre at our shop, our organization and our sport.  Everything is so different lately it is very hard to stay focused.  The entire sport is struggling as the price of basically everything is going up.  It is very hard to find sponsorship and it has caused us to lose one of our race teams and many, many co-workers.

Loudon:

After practice at Loudon, it looked like we had the best car that we have had all year.  We were the fastest car in both final practices.  We had a terrible qualifying lap and were starting around 32nd.  Even though I knew Loudon is one of the hardest tracks to pass, I felt the car was good enough to come through the field.  I was very wrong.  Once the race started we were basically stuck in traffic the entire 300 laps.  Even when Juan gained a few spots on the track we got blocked in the pit stall EVERY SINGLE TIME by the car in front of us.  That car was just fast enough to stay on the lead lap and came into the pits at a bad angle and even though he was in his own pit stall we could not exit ours.  It was a very frustrating day and the run in with Kyle Busch was a result of pure frustration.

Daytona:

Daytona was going to be a pretty good race for us.  The last Superspeedway race went very well.  When the race started Juan got into the mix and the car showed great promise.  The car was very loose and Juan chose to back off a bit and keep the group in site and save the car for later in the race when it counted.  I agreed with it because one wrong move, on purpose or not, in a tight three-wide draft would not be good.  While cruising along Greg Biffle ended our night when he simply moved up the track when Juan was “outside” of him and ran both cars into the wall.  It was a very careless move on Biffle’s part, he was simply not paying attention and cost us a good finish.  We did finish the race, the guys once again did an amazing job getting the car repaired and back on the track.

Once again I am sorry for not keeping up with the blog on a regular basis recently.  Please understand it has been a very trying time for all of us here on the team and we are trying our best to “get back in the groove.”  I have not had much free time lately to keep up with it.  We are now in Chicago and the garage did not open until 2 p.m. today, so I wrote a little update for you guys!

Hope everyone has a good week and I will talk to you after Chicago!

Thanks, Tab. We're still pullin' for you guys. I'll be listening on the scanner tonight. By the way, did Juan take you golfing for losing the bet on when the "big one" would happen at Daytona the other night? LOL!

Tab,

Great to hear from you. After a few frustrating weeks of disturbing news, it is great to hear from you and I will say after this weeks run at Chicago, I am happy for you guys. Great run, and good to hear the spirits improve.

Tab - You are doing a great job. We appreciate you very much. Thanks for the update and we look forward to hearing about Chicagoland. I am still concerned with JP and Brian's relationship, can we win if they are going at each other all the time? I know things have been frustrating for the team, for all of Ganassi Racing, that should give Brian the motivation to be a better team player. He needs to stop the rude comments to JP, it's just not right. We Thank "GOD" for you Tab keeping JP positive. You know how to talk to him. It showed last night. You are the BEST!!! Thank you for the great job you are doing for our Team. I would hate to see where we would be with out you, Tab! Love Ya Man!

LMAO Karen I loved it when Brian had some nice words for Juan when he said he did not want to flatside the car..

Tab, I think the combo of your encouragement from the roof and Brian's prodding from the cart is priceless, and I think it gets Juan just the right amount of riled up and eager to go. You guys rock and we all just want to see the best for the team. I have been upset at the quicksand situation the team has been in and I hope that Chicago was the first step onto some solid ground. Best thoughts to the team, best wishes to the 71 who are looking, and please please get us a result like last year at Indy..

We are with you guys..
