Mears to Run Nine Races in the Busch Series in No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge

CONCORD, N.C. (February 14, 2006) --- Casey Mears will make his return to the NASCAR Busch Series in a Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) Dodge Charger for nine events during the 2006 NASCAR season.  Mears will carry the number and logo of his NASCAR NEXTEL Cup car, No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge, for the selected companion races.

“I’m looking forward to running the Texaco/Havoline Dodge in the Busch Series,” said Mears.  “We have a great in-house Busch program and we are running at tracks where we know we can run up front and contend for wins.  Anytime you can get extra seat time, it’s going to help your overall effort for the weekend.  There is a lot of expectations that come with driving for a sponsor like Texaco/Havoline, so I hope that if we run well and win on Saturday, it will translate to success on Sunday.”

The No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Busch Series Dodge will make its debut at California Speedway in February.  Mears will also run the black and red colors at the two Charlotte races, Texas and Phoenix in April, Atlanta, Chicago, Michigan and the Labor Day race in California.  The program will be led by crew chief Lee McCall who earned five wins, 20 top-five and 33 top-10 finishes calling the shots in the NEXTEL Cup Series for CGRFS.

“This is a great opportunity for Casey and the team to try to win some races and help the whole program,” said Chip Ganassi.  “Casey ran two Busch races in our cars in 2004 and took both poles and led a bunch of laps, and we’re expecting this effort to compete for wins and help build momentum for Sunday.”

The CGRFS Busch Series program has 43 starts to its credit and has amassed three wins, four poles, 15 top-five and 25 top-10 finishes.  Mears ran two Busch races in 2004 for Chip Ganassi Racing and earned two poles, one top-five and two top-10 finishes including a career best of second at California Speedway.
