Race Advance - Lifelock.com 400 at Chicagoland Speedway
Race: Lifelock.com 400 on Saturday, July 12 (LIVE, TNT 6:30 p.m. ET)
Track: Chicagoland Speedway (1.5-mile oval)
Location: Joliet, Ill.
Juan Pablo Montoya and the No. 42 Dodge Charger (NSCS)
- Take Me out to the Ballgame: Montoya and the No. 42 crew will be heading to Wrigley Field on Wednesday night as the Cubs take on the Cincinnati Reds. Montoya and his Crew Chief Brian Pattie will take to the pitcher’s mound before the game so Pattie can throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The No. 42 crew will be at the game along with the No. 42 Dodge Charger. Montoya and Pattie will also test their vocal abilities as the two lead the crowd for the seventh inning stretch in singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”
- Chicago: Montoya will be making his second start at Chicagoland Speedway. He finished 15th in last year’s race. A tight-handling No. 42 Dodge Charger seemed to hamper a good portion of Montoya’s run in the 2007 USG Sheetrock 400. One of the first words Montoya used to describe his race car was “tight,” and that word plagued the team throughout the 400-mile race. By the end of the race, the team capitalized on fast pit stops, long green-flag runs and on-track maneuvering to close out the weekend with a 15th-place finish.
- About last week: Montoya and the No. 42 Dodge Charger were involved in a lap 70 incident with Greg Biffle after Biffle’s car got tight while racing under the No. 42 at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). Biffle’s car drifted up into the No. 42 Dodge forcing it into the wall. The damage sent the No. 42 into the garage for repairs. The No. 42 team fixed the damaged car and had it back on the track in just 24 laps. Montoya finished the Coke Zero 400 in the 38th position.
- Meet Montoya: Montoya will be making an appearance at a local Jewel-Osco store in Chicago this Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The store is located at 177E. Roosevelt in West Chicago. Montoya will sign autographs for fans alongside of his No. 42 Dodge Charger.
- One to Go: Team Owner Chip Ganassi is just one win away from reaching a milestone of 100 victories as an owner. His wins have come across a wide variety of racing series including CART, IndyCar, NASCAR Sprint Cup, NASCAR Nationwide, ARCA and Grand Am. Montoya has contributed to 15 of Ganassi’s victories over five series: 10 CART, one IndyCar, one Sprint Cup, one Nationwide and two Grand Am.
- 2008 Standings: Montoya slipped one spot in the NSCS driver standings after his 38th-place finish at DIS on Saturday. He now sits 21st in the overall standings.
- He’s “SIRIUS” Again: For the second year in a row, listen to SIRIUS Satellite Radio every Tuesday on channel 128 for the "Juan Pablo Montoya Report." Montoya will provide exclusive updates on the No. 42 Team; give post-race downloads and share his thoughts on the events of the season. He will also chat with hosts David Poole and Mike Bagley on "The Morning Drive" every Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. ET.
- No. 42 Dodge Charger (NSCS): Chassis #815. This chassis has made two starts in NSCS competition, at Pocono and Texas. This will only be the second time chassis #815 will be used by the No. 42 team though. Sorenson piloted this chassis at Texas earlier this season before Montoya drove it at Pocono.
